First-Ever Crackdown on Foreign Tourist Adult Venues in Japan – What It Means for Nightlife
This is the first-ever crackdown on an adult entertainment establishment catering specifically to foreign tourists in Japan.
Authorities have arrested seven individuals, including Kazuki Sudo (54), the operator of "SPARAKU AROMA ROMANCE," a business in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district. They are suspected of providing a location for female employees to engage in illegal services.
According to reports, around 70% of the establishment’s customers were foreign tourists, with a significant number from Asia. Tour guides and other intermediaries reportedly directed customers to the venue.
Investigators believe that Sudo recruited women from Okubo Park who were engaging in street solicitation, offering them work at his establishment. He admitted to the charges, stating that the business’s appeal was its affordability.
This marks the first-ever crackdown on a foreigner-targeted adult entertainment venue in Japan.
