Why Tobita Shinchi Info Is Rare—Except From Us

Why You Can Hardly Find Any Information About Tobita Shinchi Online—Except From Us?

In Tobita Shinchi, the ryōtei (traditional-style establishments) follow four unwritten rules that all owners must strictly adhere to:

  1. No advertising after opening

  2. No soliciting customers online or via social media

  3. No reservation services allowed

  4. No publicly declaring oneself as a ryōtei owner

Recently, I had the chance to connect with a ryōtei owner, and we discussed various operational details of running a ryōtei in Tobita Shinchi.

  • He owns three ryōtei in Tobita and two in Matsushima.

  • His Tobita lineup includes around 20 girls, including part-timers and temporary staff.

We explored the possibility of collaborating with Tobita ryōtei, such as listing business hours and providing daily updates on available girls online. However, his response was a firm “ダメです” ("No way").

His reasons:

  • It requires additional resources and dedicated staff to update the information regularly.

  • Such a move would only work if all Tobita ryōtei agreed to do the same—otherwise, it would be unfair to those who don’t participate.

  • Even if implemented, it wouldn’t necessarily improve business and could even create a negative cycle.

In his view, publishing girls’ schedules and ryōtei operating hours would be nearly the same as allowing reservations. Customers would simply check for the most highly rated ryōtei and queue up there, disrupting the balance.
